I've been searching for information on grass dragging. Mainly I'm looking for event calenders and such. I can't seem to find anything current, google is bringing up stuff from last year, or even 3 or 4 years ago. Can anyone help me out here? Mainly would like info on NE Ohio events.

you could try contacting the factory race teams see if they have any leads.

I've watched some of those. They are really cool! Never thought a sled could go so fast on grass in the middle of summer.

Then there are the puddle jump competitions.

I really want to get into asphault drag racing...but the sled technically isn't mine so that idea got shot down quickly.

My old man used to turf-drag sleds, it's a lot harder on everything and you need to keep the cooling system top notch. A good addition is an electric water pump you can run off a spare car based deep cycle battery when your in the pits, and a fan in front of the rad.

Personally, ive never done it, but i kid i grew up with did. hes into asphalt racing now though. He runs hes coolant through a cooler filled with ice while he is in the pits, hes got some setup tha he can hook it up and un hook it pretty fast, i dont know what he does exactly though

yeah iv heard cooling is a big factor in drags

is the sled stock?
Ya, its a stock '01 ZL600. I would have no problem studding the track and putting steel sliders on the skis to replace the carbides. I have a '78 Pantera too that I could run in the vintage class, wouldn't need to do anything to that.

ya theres a number of cheap and easy ways to cool it. I went to the local 1/4 mile friday and there was a guy there running a newer Arctic Cat F7.

Why not find a snowmobile forum? Then ask those guys.

I joined one yesterday, but no one around Ohio really.

Zman - Try joining the forums at http://www.totallyamaha.com there are more than a few guys from Ohio on there and I know there are some guys that grass drag. They should be able to help you out, the site is like TRS for Yamaha.
