Any 4 cyl/turbo swapped 98+ Rangers on here?

Some info he sent to me:

Its a long block out of 88 thunderbird turbo coupe. For engine control I am running a measquirt I controller. If it is a 98 and newer truck I would just recomend running the stock controller and tuning with SCT software.

The accessory brackets are from a 1994 Ranger with a 2.3L these will bolt right up with a light modification to clear the distributor on the drivers side of the block; since the factory 1994 had distributorless igniton. The 1998 ranger accessories will bolt onto these brackets.

For a transmission you can run the factory 5pd. I did this for a while and ran a Mustang SVO pressure plate and a merkur xr4ti disc. The xr4ti has the same spline and diameter as the Rangers factory mazda transmission. With this setup you will need to also run a flywheel from a 88 turbo coupe for the pressure plate to be able to bolt up. I have since changed my setup to a T5 from a '92 LX 5.0. With the new setup I am running a 5.0 flywheel which is SPEC drilled for the 2.3 crank. For a clutch I am using a motorsports King Cobra clutch. When using the v8 stuff you will need to purchase the bell housing adapter from stinger motorsports which allows the v8 bellhousing to bolt up to the back of the 2.3.

Another area of concern when turbocharging the ranger is which exhaust manifold to use. If you run the factory cast manifold which came on all stock 2.3 turbo's you will have an interference issue with the heater box. You can either notch the heater box or purchase a flipped welded log style manifold from 40bob. This will place the turbo higher and towards the front of the engine and allow the heater box to remain in place.

For cooling you can run the stock ranger 2.5 radiator depending on what your goals are. For a clean setup use the 98 ranger thermostat housing this will allow you to then use the factory upper hose. For the lower hose use the factory hose from a 1994 ranger with a 2.3 if you plan on using the 94 accessory brackets.

For an intercooler I am using an Isuzu NPR intercooler from a cab over truck. This intercooler fits really nice in the truck. The turbo is a Holset HE341 off an early 2000 or so manual 6BT cummins diesel. Let me know if they have any specific questions.

If you have any other questions I'll forward to him.
