Another FW 78/79 dana 44 swap

Brakes won't stay pumped up. Bled them with a helper pumping, with a mighty vac, and gravity. The same result every time, can get it to stop by pumping it but 5 sec later peddle goes to the floor.

Going to pick up a new master cylinder on the way home from work tomorrow.

Did you upgrade to a 1/2 ton master cylinder?

Looks good Greg. You're the man!

I'm packed up, tube doors on, ready to rock.

Shitty deal with the brakes. Did you watch your reservoir during the swap? I crimped the lines and made sure my resi was always topped off. Installed the d44 brakes, gravity bled, and they were rock solid.

I gravity bleed everything.

I just picked up some brake fitting plugs today in case I toast a brake line. So, if all else fails, we can just plug your front brakes at the master and you'll be good to go with the rears. :D

I kept it full. I was looking at a thread that said switch the lines on the master front to back when doing a fullwidth. Might try that first.

If yours has the different size fittings between front and back, you could go with the F250 master I used. But most of the Rangers I have seen use the same fitting for both.

Mine are the same.

Might be a rear wheel Cylinder. One of the drums was wet but i thought i spilled some fluid on it. I'll pull the wheel off tonight.

I was wrong, mine are not the same. I didn't know what year to get so I got a new one for a ranger.

With the new master the rear brakes got better and will lockup. So I cut the lines, switched the ends going to the master and brakes got a little better. I can stop but the rear still locks up and then the rads valve kicks in and I loose rear brakes. So I'm going to take the rads valve out in the morning before I leave.

It was awesome wheelin with you guys again today. You're the man Greg. The truck performed well, you should be pleased.

I'm bailin on the interlake run tomorrow. Ill probably just pack up n hit the road in the morning. Thought about goin back to redbird but i dont know my way around, no one to meet, etc. Not that i didnt enjoy the park, but theres really no obstacles that im dieing to go and try to conquer tomorrow.

It was a good day of wheeling. But long, left at 7am and got back at 9:30pm. Ran out 13.2 gallons of gas on the first test ride and everything worked great.
Here's a few pics.

I didn't want to push my luck at the rock garden but Bray gave it a shot.

Mark broke a front axle shaft trying to climb that hill behind the rock garden. And I think everybody got some body damage today. That last trail we ran (trail 1 I think)was really interesting.
