so on my way into the woods for a day of bowhunting yesterday my 99 4x4 MT, decides to start knocking squealing then stops dead on the trail, im fairly sure its toast, and even if its not i dont have time to try and fix it, however i do have 2 possible donor 4.0s in my back yard.
the one is a 92 4x4 ranger AT with 132k, the other is a 93 explr AT, and unless the odometer is wrong and judging by the shape of the engine im guessing its not it has 4,788 miles on it so this is probably going to be my donor,
now my question..
do i have to try and track down a MT for a 4.0? or will my 3.0 Tranny work the tranny code on the 93 explr is "T".
i left my keys in my buddies truck that rescued me so i have to wait until he gets here to get the tranny code off my 3.0 ranger.
but if anyone can shed some light as to if this is possible or if i need a tranny until then would be greatly appreciated.
