The old bronco is not getting any younger, So i plan on taking the old girl off the road, and doing a complete frame off restore..

So i started shopping around for a new ride. Sure not much out there for a real out of the box 4x4 other then jeep, yup i know i said a dirty word. But with lockers d44 axles, disconnects, and loads of other add on's. A fella can pick up a pretty good off road toy. looked at all the new rangers, and fords new suv's not really much in the way of a real 4x4, from them.

GMC is out of the question. And dodge is just a wisker, from a pile droped from the south end of a north bound dog.

So it looks like a jeep rubicon, will be coming home sometime this week.

just curious did you look at the toyota fj. i don't know how the new one is off road but thought it might be worth a try.

You won't regret it. I have wheeled full size Bronco's, Rangers and now my Cherokee. Hands down the Cherokee is more versatile and fun than the others.

I agree, man. I was one phone call away from a Rubicon Unlimited when I ran across my F150. My concern with the Rubi was dropping $30k on a new rig then not wanting to scratch it up on the trails. Talked to my girlfriend (now fiancee) about the prospect of having the F150 and a dedicated trail rig. She not only agreed to the idea, she gave me the Ex for my birthday. It's fairly capable as it sits now, but I've put a WHOLE lot of work into it to get it here.

Good luck with the purchase. There's no competition for the Wrangler right now.

I agree here. I mean sure, I'd rather have a Ranger than any Jeep, but for what they are, Jeeps are a wicked rig. Good luck on the buy!

A new rig would be nice, but I would hate being afraid to scratch/dent it up on the trails. Makes it less fun.

A few of friends have nice new Rubi's and Wranglers, but they will never go where I go, cause they dont wanna scratch their pretty paint.

Well the new rubicon is on the way. pick it up friday. My wife surprized me, all she said is you work hard, and you deserve a new truck. now it's just going to be a long week.

i have wheeled with a few jeeps, they are very good little unit right out of the box. I decided on the jeep and called it in today from work, now the wait for it.

I have had my bronco since the fall of 86 and it's been a great little unit. so she will get a full rebuild, from the ground up.

I got my two year old son to call the Toyota FJ a Fake Jeep every time he sees one.
