Crap! I did a whole write up yesterday about my new winch mount & it didn't take.
Got tired of my 10,000lb capacity CPE winch hanging 2 feet in front of my front bumper like a pendulum. So it got stuft between the frame rails!
Started with this but didn't want to cut the grill, header panel that much, or block that much air.

So we went here! Had to trim the hood latch support a few inches, but there's plenty left!

Mounted! The plate is also acting as a cross brace. Yeah, we welded it in! The winch will unbolt and till out if needed. We did so to finish welding the plate in, so know it works!

Then we started on Bumper. I had some tube bumper pics but we just couldn't fidn what we wanted. My Brother Steve picks up the old chrome factory bumper and says "Let's us this it's already built!" I told him no it's too flimsy and I'm sick of that thing. He replied "I've not massaged or worked it yet!" No arguing with the 40 year fabricator/machinist! Here's something he's built from junk over the last 15+ years. 1960 Chevrolet Apache dually, 350ci, 400HP+, 4 speed, 14 bolt, flatbed!

It pulls duty as a logging truck! All hand built in his driveway!
I remember when there were no floorboards!

Steve's an old Texas Hippie, gearhead, high teck guy in a low tech world with barely a cell phone. I've seen Euro cars (HE HATES them) pull out in front of him & then he'll play Jeepers Creepers with them! HILARIOUS!! It rides, straight tracks true and will do 100+ quickly!!!
Back to bumper! 1st we pulled off that plastic trim piece and welded in all the holes. Then we capped the ends where SVT & I had cut it off years ago for tires clearance! It has served it's purpose but facelift time!!!
Old cuts

Capped ends!

It also got custom brackets and boxing behind it for strength! It's not a standard stocker anymore!
It got a lot of grinding and sanding then we painted it! It also flows well with the fender line!!!

Finished product before removal, paint, and finish welding all the mounts!

And SHAZAM! Facelift! With hidden winch! The truck drives so much better because 200+ lbs isn't being a pendulum off the front of the bumper. I also have MCU better approach angle back!!!
a shot from last night when we finished!

One this morning in daylight!

New header panel on order which will be painted purple & then we'll also paint the grill black!
Will tackle the bent up rear one next week!!
