Almost Complete

Glad you got that "dirveshaft" fixed, now we can get it back in the truck so it will feel like a truck again and not a front wheel drive lifted vehicle:icon_surprised:
SVT
I think front wheel drive with high and low range is still better than AWD & V8!

Yep got to get it in so I can get it as far as possible away from "the Brandizzle Family Oil Plague"! :icon_thumby:

I'll take that bet :icon_thumby:

Actually, I think it's a Kentucky thing....the drivesaft was fine while it was down here at the shop in TN, busted it all to hell when it was in KY :icon_rofl:

Oh I left out front wheel drive with locker! And if I call the tire repo man I know I'd have you beat!

Come to think of it, you did have my truck way too many times up there at the heart of the "Brandizzle Family Oil Plague".:annoyed: :sad: :bawling: :dunno: :shok:
I hope that's the extent of the plague my truck picked up while there! :dunno:

Prior progress;
Running a rear 8.8 with 3.73 but put in the lock-rite, so I'm locked front and rear for this weekend at TB! :icon_thumby: :yahoo:
See how that works out with the projected rain, both ends locked and steering up muddy hills! :icon_confused: :dunno:
Today's progress;
Dropped the gas tank skid plate, got both frame rails drilled and the plates mounted for the sliders. Not sure if we'll be able to get them welded in before saturday. :dunno:
We must have spent about 2 hrs on the driver's side in behind the gas tank getting bolts in. What a tight fit! Had just enough slack in the gas tank mount without dropping it to fish bolts in and thru the frame rails.
Yeah I know everyone wants pics. I'm running out to the truck, get the camera, put in the new camera battery Copperhead85 sold me for a steal, get it charged then I'll shoot some. One's in it won't take 5 pics without going dead.

Well the lockers did ok except my front one kept unlocking all day way more than it should. Guess I wore it after 3 trips to Turkey Bay.
I exploded a right side front axle u joint. Thanks to Slo-Vo's mobile parts stock I got rolling again!
Had problems with the driver side spindle nut working loose. Bad spot on the spindle so got a little modification in there to last till next week. Stage 8 needs to make their locking kit for the DANA35!!! It would eliminate a very crappy locking design!
When we replaced the axle shaft we didn't even think to check if the end of the axle had the c-clip on it, so the axle backed out of the spindle and was clunking, take it back apart and put one on it.
Sooo, I'll see what happens tomorrow!
Got a pic or 2! I kind of stayed in seclusion today being frustrated with mechanical difficulty. Try to get some more tomorrow!

So I been eyeing a Champion Power equipement 10,000lb winch w/mount plate, remote, snatch block, cable, and quick disconnect cable since about June at Sam's club. It started out at I think $399. Well about 2 months ago I think it went down to $375 or so. Then last month it went down to $324, almost bought one.
I go in today and the last one (display) is there and it's got a new price! Here's what I got;
CIMG0029.jpg

Box was torn to hell, I think the snatch block may be missing and a bolt or 2. I didn't even try to put it back in the box, just wrestled it into the shopping cart!! :headbang:
Cost
$187.01!!!! :icon_surprised: :shok:
Yep I made out like a Bandit!!! :icon_thumby:
Merry Christmas to me, Merry Christmas to me!!!!! :yahoo: :yahoo: :icon_rofl:

thats a good deal

yup the lucky ba$terd.....:thefinger:

congrats....now i won't have to turn around to rescue ya pegleg a$$....:D

l8r, John

Like I told you today...................You lucky jackass!

Well, I couldn't wait. Went out to Jeremy's exploder that I hauled the winch back from Sam's in and wrestled the box into the house. The winch is still out in the exploder (and for any of the locals or dedicated driving people who think they'll motor over here and remove it for me, I got guns, With big bullets). :annoyed:
Anyway, riffled through it. There's a mounting channel, a quick disconnect goes from the one on the winch to a power source, a hook for the cable, a roller fairlead, a snatch block, a bag of bolts, a manual! And one lone bolt???? :dunno:
So it looks like I really made out!!!!!! Appears nothing missing and all complete!! :thefinger: :yahoo: :headbang: :icon_hornsup: :icon_cheers: :beer:
So for those envioous ones, I guess I just made it worse!
And here's the pics to rub it in;

Had some major issues last wheeling trip. So been at it, kinda slow though.
Replacement TCase in! Thanks to Slo-Vo for his old Electric Tcase on the cheap!
Raped the PAP in Birmingham, Alabama last trip down to Mom's. And the local JY here, so installed the following last 2 days;
Inner axle shaft put back in diff, was falling out!
Did the Cclip Eliminator mod (External) with the Ecko spring as listed on the Tech Library. Wheel bearing service
Replaced the Drive side axle shaft, Ujoint almost done!
New spindle and rotor w/bearings on Drive side!
Took er for a spin, and all working like it's supposed to!
See what happens tomorrow at Turkey Bay, should definately be better than last time. I was a disgurntled SOB cause my &*%$ wasn't working right!!!
Didn't really take pics cause everything was kind of standard everybody does it stuff!
Next up is cut front Bumper in the middle, Install 10,000 lb winch between frame rails!
And some sliders. Beginning to wonder if I'll every get them on, had the steel for months.
DANA44 is on hold till better weather and I get stuff moved south to UA where I'm retiring on the farm. Got to use the truck to haul the trailer and don't want to get into it half *$$ and end up with it wrong, so holding off!

seriously, a 10k winch for less that $200....
i despise.... i'm looking at the smittybilt xrc8 b/c of the price.
but nice build up. i like!

Well, after the performance I had yesterday at Turkey Bay, I'm thinking the Ranger is really Almost Complete! Got to do a complete fluid change, service wheel bearings (got in a little wet muck, don't want one getting nasty), radius arm bushings and an alignment. And knock out a tree dent that should pop right out
It's still a good loooking truck, thinking I want to keep it somewhat that way.
As the day went along I found it'll crawl along 1500 rpm and less up and over a LOT of stuff real easy, If it's worse than my 33s will allow me to to traverse, I find a way around.
Thinking hard on this one.
I got a line on what could be a definite dedicated but roadable trail, off road rig, just got to go get it and start on it! Shorter wheelbase at 94" instead of my LONG Ext Cab Ranger (Wiggling that thing around trees is like NASCAR steering wheel seesawing)!!

Went over to RangerSVT's today to haul some stuff back home that he's been storing for me. Army shit that I have to go through, wash and pack to turn in on monday, since starting then I only have 2 weeks left!!!
Didn't get to do that soooo;
We put in some new radius arm bushings since mine were done!
Make 'er stay together again this coming sunday as we're going back to Turkey Bay!
Hey, it's right around the corner here so why shouldn't we!! Enjoy it while we can!!
After them 2 weeks are up, making a trip to Ohio to get my free dedicated trail rig!!

do i sense another b2 build coming? :D
