So i sorta bumped up against a wall with the truck

now i have to turn the wheel about 90 degrees to get it to go straight

I looked over everything and nothing is bent or anything so

Im guessing that means I f___-ed up the alignment

any thoughts?

I suppose i need to have a shop do it- whats a reasonable price range

thanks

Tha'd be my guess, take it in and see what they say. Around here a regular alignment is about $50 or so if they don't have to replace any parts. Let us know what they found.

Umm, it sounds more like you BENT something, like the steering linkage. 90 deg is a LOT; I'd suggest replacing it before going after alignment.

And hope it isn't something more serious like a bent frame.

look at your radius arm bushings and measure from the center of the wheel to the rear of the fender for setback on the side that got hit.

look for any bending or cracking of paint on the radius arm,its bracket, axle beam and knuckle

check your balljoints, wheel bearings, and tie rod ends

use a tape measure to check toe in,it should be the same front and rear.

if the steering box still feels tight its probably o.k.

if everything seems o.k. you probably just need an alignment, but take it easy!you can only tweek things from impact so much before it breaks.

Ya- 53 bucks later it was just the alingment

ill hafta be more carefull

thanks

I hit a block off ice after the snowplow went thru and bent the spindle on the d28. If the brake is dragging heavily you probably did the same. Put the front wheels in the air and try to turn the axle shafts. If they only turn about 90 degreees before binding you need the spindle replaced.

Sector shaft. Just because the box feels tight, doesn't mean it's ok. You can bend the sector shafts on these pretty easily, and all it's gonna take is another good bump and it could break.

I spent a good deal of time looking everything over before and after the alignment- everything seems to be the same

90 degrees was a bit of an exageration, more like 45

ill look over everything one more time just in case
