Well yesterday before I went into town to the store I figured I would check the oil in the B2 since it leaks oil all over the place. Well I pull the dipstick out and its covered in foamy milky stuff, wiped it off put it back in and checked again and sure enough I got some coolant in the oil. I'm not sure how much the shops charge normally for head gasket replacements but I am thinking I may be pretty lucky to know a kid in high school that is in auto that is going to change them for me. Anyone else ever use their local high school auto shop for work on their vehicles?

I don't use our auto deal since I do all my own work... but if you have that option and don't do it yourself; go for it. It's a good thing to use.

I wouldn't mind doing it myself, but seems like everytime something goes wrong it only happens when its cold as hell outside and I don't have a garage to work in. Seems pretty simple on the 2.8L engines to change out the head gaskets. Doesn't seem to be losing too much coolant, but I'm sure glad I noticed it before it got too bad though. Bronco goes in on the 2nd to get started, the kid says it may take about a week since he will only have about a half hour to 45 minutes a day to work on it. I said for not having to fork out a ton of money right now on it to get it done it don't matter how long it takes as long as its done right. Its a family friend so its not like its just some random person working on my truck, we have worked on several vehicles together in the past he's a pretty damn good mechanic which is what he wants to do when he graduates, I figure any work I can get to him now will just make him that much better of a mechanic later. Him and 3 other kids usually end up working on the vehicles I take in, I trust them all so I don't have an issue with it. Last time they worked on the bronco 2 was the carburetor adjustment problems I was having where it wouldn't stay adjusted, they got it running pretty damn good now after about an hour in the auto shop with it. They're reward usually is lunch on me which I think they seem to like pretty well LOL.
