Advice on where/brand to go with for ball joints/bushings?

have you finished the ball joint change ?

They seem really good. I sent in a request for price and depending what they charge for 4 BJ's, ill see. I mean my truck isn't very hardcore but I do love to jump train tracks lol. I was almost considering upper and lower control arms but the prices turned me away, then again for bushings and ball joints it's only like 40 more with a control arm.

Hi. I have the same Ranger you have with the same problems.
I have written threads ,quotes etc. and have yet to recieve replies or I just cant find the replies. This site to me is confusing because there are so many selections and almost all could have info you need. I must have ticked off everybody on this site because I never get any replies. I would like to have a step by step instruction with a clear Illustrated picture of front suspension for my Ranger.
I've been a Chevy man until I bought this Ranger. Biggest mistake I ever made but I've gotta fix it because I cant afford to take the loss if I sell it.

Since I never get replies I apologize to you for whatever this old Captain did.
On ebay and other sites. You can get the lower assy that has the ball joint installed and a complete upper assy and I think it has the ball joint installed?
These assy seem to be the best deal and if I can install them?
I have other issues but this is the most important. I have so far installed front pads and rear shoes w/hardware and rear brake cyls.
I'm gonna give my email address to try and get some help or at least a reply
Thanks Chuck bareboatin@bellsouth.net

I'm not sure if this wil get thru. I have also installed AVM manual hubs and plugged off the hub vacum connection and the vacum line going to the hub. I got this female rubber assy packet from Auto Zone and It had everything needed . tks Chuck

Chuck slow down a little bit. You only joined this month. Your first post was 5 days ago, and you only had 6 posts prior to coming to this thread. Only 4 of those were about problems with your truck. Your first and second posts (same day) were to a very old thread that nobody is going to pay attention to. The other two about problems with your truck were in about the same situation.

From your posts in this thread I am going to make a few suggestions for you. First, Quit thinking of your truck as the biggest mistake ever. You bought it so something must have been right then, It's a used truck that the PO didn't take the best care of, fix those things then make your decision. Second, buy a Chilton's repair manual. Between that manual and the Tech library (on this site button at top) you should be able to fix almost anything on the truck. Don't buy the Hayne's manual, it's good but the Chilton is a lot better. Third, watch where you post. This site is actually easy to navigate and laid out well you just need to read the forum titles and topics. If you have questions about brakes the go in the brake forum, questions about 4x4 in the 4x4 suspension forum, etc. Searching is great but keep your replies to more recent threads, mostly those created in the last six months or which are older but are still on going, If you can't find a thread that meats those requirements create a new one to present your questions.

The ebay joints have already been mentioned in this thread. As said stay away they will last about a year and need replaced again. As for your lower control arm assembly, you don't need to replace it, and the ball joint alone will be much cheaper. If it's not stay away from that assembly cause the joint and bushings in it are complete crap. For the upper assemblys the only way to replace them is as a complete assembly the ball joints can't be pressed out of the factory uppers. That said still avoid the ebay ones won't last long at all.
