Advice for replacing the slave cylinder?

So, I'm fairly certain my slave cylinder crapped out the other day. In the middle of the day I suddenly couldn't shift into any gear. At first if I really pushed it I could change gears, but now it's gone same feeling as when I incorrectly bled it. I popped off the "quick" disconnect, pedal was rock solid, and since the issue was in all gears, I assumed it has to be a clutch problem. Since everybody knows the slave cylinder in these things are garbage, I'm ordering a new one and planning on dropping the tranny on Saturday. Is there anything else I NEED to do while I'm down there, and does anyone have any tips or a link to a through step by step guide? I drive a 98 2.5l 2wd.

It's fairly strait forward Just take your time. I would drain the transmission I forgot when I pulled my trans and made a nice mess. And I would invest in a rachet wrench for the top and side transmission/engine bolts. I think they are a 12 or 13 mm if you don't have one. If you have a friend it can be in and out in 4 hours. Bleeding the slave cylinder is a pain.

Actually there are numerous youtube videos on how to do that very thing ig i can find the one im thinking ill post the link for you i have done this very thing bout 3 times and my best start to finish time was 5 hours that was out in a driving

Yeah, I'm actually taking a break from it right now and grabbing lunch. I have a pretty good handle on the procedure, I'm more just trying to collect little tips. For instance, when I tried to pull off the shifter the "right" way, it wouldn't work. Spent half an hour trying to figure out what I was doing wrong before I just hit it.

I got a late start because it decided to rain on the one day I could fix my truck, I was hoping it would let off but I eventually just threw a tarp under it and started. I've got the shifter out, starter out, gonna get to the actual meat of the project when I get back.

I didn't want to be the guy on a forum that has a problem and never posts the solution, so I figured I'd do a quick recap. The main problem I had was getting the tranny to mate back up. Something got misaligned, and it just want working. What ended up solving it for me was turning the crank while wiggling the tranny in. The starter was a bitch to out back in, but it's just patience. I wasn't sure exactly how to bleed it, but I was 3 in the morning and I was done, so I just gravity bled it. Worked freaking great.

The only issue I'm having now is that the throw to 5th and rev is super short, but it engages and runs.
