Well, aparently as of late more and more people i have been talking to dont realize what advance auto parts can order for you.

i worked there for one of the worst years of my life, the only thing that i learned is the amazing amount of parts u can get from advance and often times for cheaper then anywhere else u can get it, when you go into the store you will need to ask them to see there second source accessories catalog, in my region it is Keysone Automotive, you can get pretty much anything u want from them, i personally get most of my parts from them becuase of the warranties are CONSIDERABLY better then that of many online stores or 4x4 stores, and 9/10 they wont know that u used them on a wheeler and will replace it as long as its under warranty.

Ive gotten complete rearends, motor's, trans's, gears' locker's, custom driveshafts, custom headlights/tail lights....basically anything u want they can get..just dont let the moron behind the counter tell u that they cant get that stuff.

they can also go to the back and get you a snazzy ballcap if you ask just right.

the only bad thing is you have to deal with the idiots that work there...no offense, some are okay, but around here they are always cocky a-holes that have no real experience, trying to tell you what you need. i love going in there and listening to the bs they tell some of the customers... then as the customers leave, i tell them he didnt know what he was talking about. one guy told me i had an after market complete bed in my ranger, because the tailgate straps they sell are too short, what an idiot. they hate when someone know what they are talking about because it makes them look stupid.

:icon_confused:yeah or they barely speak english.:icon_confused:Guess that is Denver for ya

i dont work there anymore, they tried to say i stole 2k cash from the safe.....funny thing was i didnt have the safe combo. but ya, they dont like having people that ACTUALLY know what there talkin about there, becuase then they would actually have to pay them, most people that work at advance earn under $10 a hour, and u gotta get the guys that last a long time credit, some of the idiots i had to deal with on a daily basis can drive u nuts, like the idiot that doesnt know what engine they have, or if its a auto or manual, 9/10 they really just dont care anymore

another one couldnt find an egr valve for my '96 explorer 5.0liter. so he told me he wanted to look at it, i opened the hood.... he looked for about five minutes (while i giggled)... then, he said "it doesnt have one, explorers are known for that!".... i then pointed at it and said its right there, what are you talking about? he then told me "that isnt an egr valve". i said good bye, and went and bought one from the dealership.

i work at a chevy, toyota, bmw dealership, we get that all the time! "i need parts for my honda", sorry sir, we dont sell honda, "why not"..... or the "i need parts for my toyota" okay, what year make model?, " I dont know, cant you look it up?" um, how, i dont know what vehicle you have? "oh, ok, can you just print me a picture then?":nopityA:

I worked at O'reilly's for four months and I had a blast. I admit that the normal idiot would walk into the store, but some of them just make you die laughing when you go home at the end of the day.

I'm talking about the person that comes in and says, "I need a thermostat"
I say, "What year of car?"
They say, "'03"
I say, "What engine?"
They point at car through window and say, "That one"
I say, "Auto or manual?"
They repeat procedure and say, "That one" (completely idiotic to the questions I'm trying to get through.)

Oh well, those people get me out of the store for a few minutes so I can go look at what they have and all the specs on the tags and such.

Like MHughes was saying though, they are getting to where they only car about the gas they put in their cars.

Pathetic!!

I went in the other day to get wheel seals for the front bearings. I nearly killed the little punk who was originally looking up the parts in the computer. I told him everything he needed to know and watched him click away on the buttons on the computer monitor. He finally gets to the right page and tells me he didnt have any. Im looking at the same screen and it says they have 7!!! Luckily the manager was there and knew exactly what I needed. I wasnt even able to tell the kid that the computer says that there are 7 before the manager walked up and threw 2 seals on the counter.

And what was the kids response... and I qoute, "I thought we were only suppose to sell them the expensive ones."

The manager gave me a two for one on them though and told me that if I need any other parts just ask for him.

Nice... The kid still needs shot though..

i always sold the cheaper ones to most people, the parts are the same quality, just a different brand name, and i loved the people that would come in and think they know more then i do and i just sit back and smile when they get pissed off cause they think there right lol.

i was that guy that would walk up behind someone and grab the right part when the other guy had no idea what they were doing

ha ha. another time...... i went in to get a pinion seal for my old ranger 7.5. he looked it up, said they dont sell them... i said, yes you do, i have never seen a store that doesnt sell them. he said no we dont.... i said turn the computer around so i can see it.. he said hang on, went to some screen, and said see we dont sell them! i said look one up for a different year, or different model. he said no other models come with a 7.5, i nearly slapped him! i said look one up for a '83 mustang... he looked, said he couldnt find it, i then turned the computer around, found it my self on their computer, and said, there, how did you not find it!... they had 5 in stock! that kid had been working there for 4 years.... he was P.Oed when i found it!

these parts stores are online,i get numbers before i go.then i don't hear we ain't got it,just we got to order it,be here tomorrow.

I get my parts at my local Advance. Great store, knowledgeable people, and a HUGE parts selection. They've gotten things for me that no one else had, even dealerships. They know me well so I can just use the computers and then go out back and get what I need.
