Adding A/C no a 1998 ????

I had a '98' with the 2.5 manual in a single cab and got great mileage in town but once you got out onto the interstate even without a load into a slight wind, would top out at 73 mph. That was due to the 3.45 rear gear. What ever drive line you chose, good and bad about any. Had a 2005 SC 4x4, 4.10 gear that got over 23 mpg on the interstate. Just be careful and be happy.

If the load was so great all the time, then the 4 cyl. would be rated for worse MPG's wouldn't it ?

Sticker MPG rarely reflects real world driving conditions.

The 4.0 Mustangs are rated for better MPG. In reality the 4.6 tends to get the best of the bunch.

I also have a customer who was so excited about the 21 MPG his 4-cyl, FWD Escape was getting, until I told him that my wife's V6 AWD regularly hits 25 combined. Again, going by the sticker the 4-cyl should get better than the V6.

over hill over dale my 4.6 marquis gets the same mileage as my 2.5 ranger, in town and only a little worse on highway cause it hauls arse, my old 86 gets better than both, gears make a huge difference, my 99 has or should i say had 3.73 and was in 5th at just over 45mpg, witch was ok cause Iam in the mountains, where Chris is at is pretty much flat
