Just wanted some opinions on the Accel Super Coil, and if there are any other coils that offer the same performance for cheaper.

I have an accel supercoil on my '99 for all but 2 years now, still works great. It seems to respond better between 1-3k than with the stock coil, but thats just my speculation. If you get it dont get it wet it will burn up the plugs.

The stock coil is just as good and cheaper! lol, the new ignition systems on vehicles do more than a good job at starting a flame. The only way you'll go faster is because your wallet weighs less (unless your factory coil is faulty).

Well I wanted to upgrade my ignition system because when I get up around 5k the check engine light starts flashing indicating a misfire. I have changed all the spark plugs, and it still occurs. Hopefully a new coil and spark plug wires solves this problem.

I know the SOHC revs a little better, but I don't like to take my OHV above 4k. It seems like the most hp is between 2500-4000 anyway,But I do love getting in the wife's sploder and giving her hell.

yeah I don't do it often, but every once in a while on the freeway i'll punch it and get up to about 85 and back off. Especially when someone in a dodge is taunting me...

Ohh yeah, blow the wifes engine and not yours. Husband of the year award!!!

How could someone in a DODGE taunt you, LOL. They're driving a DODGE...a CHRYSLER product, i.e. a POS. ALTHOUGH, I apologize...Ford guys can make fun of Chevy guys and Chevy guys can make fun of Ford guys, but making fun of the Mopar guys is just wrong...it's like making fun of the retarded kid in the room. :icon_cheers:

Haha i was behind this dude doin like 60 in the left lane, so i had to pass him in the right lane. After that he just started actin like a total dick tryin to race me while i was laughing my ass off the entire time.

On the topic of rom, the highest I'll go is 3500 to accelerate fast. Other then that, 2k-2.5k is all that's needed for acceleration, why waste the gas. I'd buy a faster vehicle if I wanted to blow by people and rape the he'll out of them.

I drive like an old lady 90% of the time and average around 18.5 mpg. If I wanted to be continuously hassled on the freeway i woulda bought a v6 mustang haha

i'd start basic by moving relatively similar length plug wires from one to another.

i know this is off topic, but what makes a factory valve body gasket go bad - are they just poor quality? And will the replacement eventually go bad like the factory one?

They tend to break where they are thinnest (separating circuits within the valve body) I'm not sure if the valve body gasket material is to blame or maybe poorly engineered surface area for the gasket (too much pressure for small gasket mating surface) but the newer trucks and the ford TSB will sell you a new separator plate with the gasket bonded to the separator plate. Seems to do the trick.
