My '05 Ranger 2wd XL ABS light is on & off. It will usually come on when the outside temp is 40 deg + but when temps are near freezing or below it stays off. If its on I can turn the ignition off & on quickly while driving & then it will stay off for the remainder of the drive. It will also stay on after starting when the rest of the check lights turn off but not all the time.
I replaced both front ABS sensors the rear one in the differential housing is the original one.
To complicate things the heater blower speed is low/high only. I was ready to replace the blower motor resistor but randomly the mid blower speeds will work again.
It looked like a bad ground so I cleaned up the battery to radiator support ground strap & the 3 other ground straps in the engine compartment.
We live in NYS the northern rust belt however this is a Nevada truck & the body has no rot & the frame has the usual rust for a 15 year old truck.
I think for $20 I'll replace the blower motor resistor to see if the two problems are related or not.
This has been going on for about 6 months not getting better or worse.
Any ideas what else could be going on? Mike
