I am wondering if anyone knows how I would be able to disable the abs on my 2008 Ranger Sport.

Id pull the fuse but thats connected to other things. Last winter id be able to temporarly disable them by drifting in deep snow, but I want to do it, and be able to put it back to normal when i bring it into the dealership for service.

Thanks Justin

Very illegal to do. I for one will not tell anyone how to disable any safety system.

Pull the fuse for the pump in the engine bay fuse box. But, know that if anything happens you COULD be held responsible for disabling a "safety"system.

Man, if you ever got into an accident, even if it wasn't your fault and they found out you had tampered with the system, you'd lose.

I'm all for making the truck SAFER while playing...aka wheeling. I have mine on a switch. It just interrupts the power going to the fuse.

Disabling it actually lets you lock up the brakes and builds a mound of stuff in front of your wheels when on the trail or gravel road or... I've seen and even had issues where I had NO BRAKES when out wheeling because of the damn ABS.

I like this idea, i should look into putting a switch in. I want the abs disabled for the winter because my old car did not have abs and I never had any problems stopping in snow and stuff, and avoided accidents like nothing, and when i drove my dads car , same car just newer and abs I almost got in so many accidents from the abs.

Last winter I was able to stop in half the time with my ranger when the sensors got jammed with snow from drifting, and acually almost wrote my truck off numberous times from the abs. If you know how to control a car without the abs, then its so much safer. I think abs is the stupidest thing put into cars.

ABS is there too be able to let you steer the vehicle to avoid an accident ON THE STREET. Unfortunately, it's only helpful on dry pavement or rainy wet pavement. It does nothing for you if it's snow and almost nothing helps in ice, but i'm not going to start a controversy on which is better on ice...its fuking ice! lol.

I run ABS on the street and if there's some accumulated snow on the street, i switch it off or as soon as i get off pavement, i switch it off.

Ya thats true, but for people that dont know how to drive. A good driver is able to control his car/truck without abs. I know you probally know, but others dont is to pump the brake. But all well, and yes ice is ice, just gotta hope for the best and hope you bought decent tires, that help a lil. Abs is retarded on ice, goes crazy.

Pumping the brakes does the same thing as ABS...

exactly.. so a good driver dont need no abs, but when i actually need to fully stop and not rear end a car, when i cant go around, the abs always makes things complicated...
