A4LD Oil Leak

Have a trans fluid leak seeping out around shift lever, removed pan. It seems there is a pin holding lever assembly into case side. Looking up into a small cavity it appears a pin is broken off or drifted so far it cannot be removed. Is my thinking correct and how would it be removed?
