and especially for people in the southern states who are not used to it.

Yesterday i was driving my truck back from the store, and i hit a patch of ice.

i was recording with my digital camera at the time.

i first hit the ice and realized it was such when my back end started to slip and the engine revved up.

then i gave it less gas, and it came loose again and the engine revved up. I went left of center, and i caught it on video.

No matter who you are, no matter how good you are, shit can happen, especially when you're out of practice, this could have ended very badly, and it's pure luck that it didn't.

stay safe everybody.

Not to be a dick at all, but put the camera down when driving bro.

Same goes for people on cell phones and texting and driving. I'm glad it's against the law here now.

Glad you got it under control and got back in your lane tho!

those are the sphincter grabbing the seat moments... word of advice.. when you start sliding take the foot off the gas and slow it down...even if you are only going 5 mph. getting there late is better than getting into an accident or going off the road.

Just don't find yourself concentrating more on the camera than the driving!

I know I've messed around with a remote mounted camera on my 4x4 before when out wheeling.....found myself more fixated on what was showing on the monitor than what I was actually doing.

i keep the monitor closed once i get it aimed :P

Talk about a close call there!

normally i'm not one to laugh at someone elses expense but i couldn't help myself, your commentary is hilarious.

Been there, 5 speeds and ice don't get along well. Looks like typical ohio roads there. With the occational slid off marks, like the ones on the right of the screen after you get back in your lane. I really like that camera mount.:icon_thumby:

I'm glad you dodged that one!!!!! :headbang:

p.s......you sure you didn't see an angel swoop down really fast???????????????????

glad you got back under control man, i've had the same sorta thing happen to me, but luckily there was no one else near me

i'm sure the person in the other lane was pissing their pants as well lol

Dang, that is a close call. I thought for sure you were about to collide. Now stay home and drink some  or :icon_pepsi:, your choice.

I had a similar problem yesterday. An off-ramp from the interstate was slick ice. Just a slight touch of the brakes caused the wheels to lock. I was doing a light tap dance on the brake pedal to get my Ranger to turn right and slow down before I rear end the vehicle in front of me. Luckily, the ramp is on a incline upwards, which helped.

I might be joining the video camera gig soon. Just picked up a Sony HDR-XR150 for when tornado season hits this March, April, and May months.

Been there man been there and im from the land of cold ice and snow and i still get moments like that.

Hell this week about rolled a Test Car at work.

wow that was a close call and glad you saved it. I wonder what the other guy in the car was thinking...............:shok:

hmmm.

unfortunately that was all human error.

bout had to wipe the sweat off my brow too!

what did you learn from that?

Whoa - when you were heading towards that other car, I was like "Noooooo..." Roads around here have been iced over too.
