Hello All, Nice site,
I have a 99 Ranger Xlt extended cab, 3.0, auto 4x4,
I cant easily see the drian plug, i have a 1354 case, are these drain with a hose type, No drainplug??? I need a photo. I have looked and found diagrams and there seems to be a drainplug, Darn it i cant see one??? Then whats the fluid capicity on my dana 35 rear end?? When I drained it, seems i got about 5pints out, when filling i got only slighty more than 4 back in, she's on a leval surface whats the exact amount that should go in. Thanks and hope to hear the news sooner than later, ENJOY Your TRUCKS.

I would think the drain plug wouldbe on the lowest part and it wont be a hex head, like hte oil plug. I would htink it was a 3.8 square hole for a breaker bar head. Like on the tranny. But hten again I havent serviced mine yet so I dont know for sure

Backi shouldnt be any more full than the fill plug, Its about 1 qt or maybe 1.5 qts. I dont know about your truck being newer, but every rearend I did, my expo mustang etc. needed the friction modifier, Double check your specs.

Hey, Thanks for the try. I am fluid in the Dana 35 Rear end, 64 oz maybe just a touch over, However i measured what came out at 5 plus pints and cant figure out why/how???
Then the T case, I guess it Must Not have a drain plug, I dont see one!!! Many Thanks, Be Cool. Please send any objections or corrections.

There might be a damper near the bottom of the case. It's a round metal thing held in with 4 bolts. If you have one, you need to remove it and the drain plug will be right behind it.

Cool, I have a damper, Hence why i cant see the plug. Cool Thanks.

And you do not have a d35 rear end. You have a d35 front differential, and either a 7.5" or 8.8" ford rear end.

Its a 99 3.0 i doubt its had a swap yet, Dont they all come with 7.5?

Not necessarily. My old 99 3.0 was a 7.5. I believe Chance has an 8.8 with 4:10's and his is also a 3.0 supercab. Ford did some crazy things...

Hi,
I check the door jam and the R/E cover tag, Its a 7.5, but read what i already wrote, I know i pulled right at 5 pints out?? My local parts store said 5.07 pints. I dropped it back on the ground after the cover removal and reinstall, I got 62 maybe 64 ounces back in vefore it came out. Are you supposed to run it and then refill, to top it off? And or what are your books saying for quanity?? Thanks All.

How are you sure it's a 7.5 rear end? Check your door jamb for the answer. Under axle it will have a two digit code. Compare that code to the codes in the tech library: http://www.therangerstation.com/tech_library/Axles.html

Hey on a side note what would you think would be the skinnyiest tire i can get away with?? I have the XLT Ext Cab and sport package, I have the same tie as you factorily. Would going with a norrower 215 75/16 or some thing be able to help with the mediocre fuel economy?? Many Thanks.
