99 ranger 4hi 4lo lights blinking

When I try to shift into 4 wheel drive the idiot lights just blink and the transfercas wont shift whats the cause and whats needed to repair

I would say the shift motor needs to be cleaned, try this and see if it helps:

clean off all the elecronics hooked to the t-case and then, as triumph said, check the shift motor

well i pulled off the shift motor and tested it the motor works fine there is a wire going in to the transfer case from the wire harness plug is this a sensor could a sensor be the problem
