99 from 3.0 to 4.6(HELP NEED DIRECTION ON BUILD)

Been away for a few days to NJ for my sons dance competition. Got a little work done between customer work. Engine is almost finished being painted. Meet with the welder doing the rear frame to figure out the plan. Was planning to do everything myself but the frame is something i want right so i choose to send it out. Have been getting things together for future use. FREEBIE had a friend give me all the links I need for four link. Also got some cool lights for my flashers.

If I had the money right now I would own it. Haven't had much time to work on the ranger. It's derby time and it is consumming all my free time, but after next week I should be able to get back to it. My daughter is running this year and I have my car and 4 for friends. tonight is the first night I have got out of the shop before 10-11 oclock in about a week and a half. But the friends pay for my builds so its worth it.

You havent started trans work, so I can suggest this. But if you can find a cobra 6 spd. I think you would be much happier than using the aode. But thats just my opinion. Also if you can afford it a Watts link would be badass keping the rearend between the fenders. But with a 4 link I dont know if you will need it. Im assuming of course your making a street truck given the materials.

It will eventually get a six speed but for now will use what i have. My original plan was to do a hybred part prerunner part street, but now its all street. I am going to build a prerunner out of the 95 I bought today. It was my business partners truck with 260k on it. the head gasket finally let go today so I bought it from him for $100. here are some pics of of my motor and my daughters derby car.

Thank God for good friends. Yesterday my wife took my youngest to the doctors and found out she has type one diabetes, and i had to take her to Albany med which is an hour and half from my house. I was in the middle of working on my derby car, but i dropped it and flew to Albany. My good friend came down today and finished my car for me. So it is ready to run but it is going as "the ratmobile" that it is. My daughters van on the other hand looks awesome. She did most of the work on it including some of the . I layed down the base paint, then she and her boyfriend did all the art work. All right enough text here are the pics. Then I can get back to the Ranger.

Ok this will be the last post about the derby, but I am a proud daddy! My daughter ran her first derby and has the virus. She got hit in the drivers door which pissed her off (like I knew it would). She went full throttle into the back of a nissan pickup. was a big hit but it took her out. The pics!!

pushed engine four inches into fire wall, broke axle, ripped throttle body off. ITWAS A GREAT HIT!!!! Just wish it was the rear but she was seeing red.

Well I finally found some time to play with the ranger today. Mostly little stuff but it was still fun. Got most of the engine back together. Spent a lot of time sand blasting and painting parts. Started unbolting the engine and trans, and body to pull it off frame. Broke one bolt on the front body mount.Once I have everything off the frame will start modifying. Need some opinions should I plate the frame or cut off rear section and build it up with 3x5 box. i want it rugged so when I do future mods to engine I wont have to much twist in the rails. Btw if anyone needs anything from this project just speak up. Will be getting rid of the 5 speed and the motor runs but will need a complete rebuild since it knocks bad. I also am ditching the stock tank for a custom one I am building. let me know what you need if it is something I dont plan on keeping I will sell it to help offset cost.

Ok as promised here are some pics of the 4.6. My daughter deleted some of the later ones so I will show more when i get it in the truck. Shoting to have most of the fab done by next weekend will get plenty of pics.

IMO If you want to use Black and lime type color scheme you could paint the whole thing black then use the green like a paint splash or spill on it.. green in the middle looks like a taxi.. Splill effect use to be a popular paint scheme in the 90s.. Would go great with what you did with the engine... It looks really good.

The reason for the green in the middle is I want a police theme but not black and white. I plan to put a gold star (with my own twist) on the door, and green light bar on the roof with green led strobes in grille and marker lights. Just a twist to the police package theme i am going with. I know its corny but it fits me.
