About too replace the cat and thought I might as well put on a better muffler on while I'm at it. Looking for something deep but not too loud. No Rice!!!!!

I had the thrush welded muffler on my car, sounded good. And have a thrush turbo on it before, it was a bit quieter.

I put a Dynomax cat back exhaust on my 97 Ranger and I love the sound of it. The Dynomax muffler has a nice deep tone [ for a 4 cylinder ] at idle and it's quiet when driving. I have a Thrush Turbo muffler on my 4 cylinder Mustang and it's a bit loud and rice like on hard acceleration. The Mustang has no cat, just the muffler mounted after the axle. My Ranger has the factory cat. and the muffler is before the axle. I'm sure that makes some difference. I plan to install a Dynomax muffler on my Mustang to see if I can get it sounding better like my Ranger. The funny thing is I was reading that Dynomax makes the Trush Turbo mufflers.

The cat delete makes a huge difference. The thrush gets quieter with a cat. They sound decent. My ranger currently has a long tube header to 3" exhaust to the axle, and goes into a 3"inlet dual 2 1/4" outs, sounds mean.

I'm going too try and keep the stock system! I'm going too replace the cat with a universal from Magna flow but I think I may have got the wrong size. The new cat diameter is 2.25! Against my better judgement I measured after ordering the part and the o.d of the pipe is 2.5! Surely if I put reducers on too make it fit it won't restrict the flow that much!?

It was all bolt in using factory hangers and the tail pipe is oval at the end for a nice look.
