My buddy had his clutch replaced in his 1997 Ranger 2wd w/2.3....

He made it to work the other day (hour away) and his clutch pedal locked up...long story short, he broke his master cylinder push rod being uneducated/frustrated.

I get to work and immediately check his hydraulic system.

His "quick" disconnect was popped out of the slave and wont snap in!

Its one of those "new and improved garbage slave cylinders with the single metal clip.

With the clip removed, the male end bottoms out in the female slave before the ridge, that the clip is supposed to grab onto.

Its clear as day.

I've tried pulling on the female thinking it slipped back on the tube, but appears to be "fixed"...so I'm here with the truck trying to get him back on the road...

Any ideas?

Nothing looks to damaged, when I did mine it was hard to push on, I just pulled the clip and pushed on it after I made sure it was centered in there and finally got past the lip to push the clip back in

It does "click" in, but pulls right back out with the same amount of force....The master's penis is obviously too long for the slave's vagina.

I removed the clip, to see if that is what was keeping it from going in further, but it had no effect. It bottoms out way too soon. With the clip removed you can see where the male end stops and it needs to be at least 1/8" deeper to grab onto the ridge.

I just don't see these two pieces working together at all.

I'm sure the mechanic shrugged his shoulders at this one...Who pushes a quick connect in and doesn't pull on it to make sure it is secure?

That makes me think he could have possibly used a slave from a different model or year, that would explain this mismatch?

The new up dated design all fits together for m5od r1 , m5od r2 m5od r1 hd, zf 5, I have a 92 slave on my 87 with a 95 f250 line and a 93 f150 master
