Hello all. Been lurking around the internet and decided this would be the place to be. Picked this up recently and wondering if that lower stripe is factory or added on? Thanks in advance.

I would say no, since I have never seen that before, and the 1997 Brochure, seen here: https://www.therangerstation.com/resources/pdf_documents/1997_ford_ranger_brochure.pdf

doesn't show it or mention a "Sports" package/trim, there is a Splash trim

But it is an XLT so could have been an option

I’ve never seen one either. It’s going away eventually, along with the mudflaps.

In the past... many dealers would add stripes and little accessories to up the appeal factor. They did it really heavy in the 80's. I've never seen one like yours before.
