After dealing with the ole dana 35 for long enough i decided to just go ahead and solid axle it. A few of the local wheelers are into the early bronco theme so i managed to scrape up most of the necessary parts. I began by removing all of the ttb parts

A couple of solid sweetgum logs gave the helped support the front of the ranger.

Next i began to mock up the eb axle and take measurements.

I used an early bronco axle, with 79 flat top f-250 knuckles, custom machined 4340 1/2 ton spindles, and 1/2 ton ford hubs and rotors. For the suspension i am using bc broncos 5.5 in coils, f250 shock mounts, full size bronco coil buckets and radius arm mounts. And for steering i am using chevy one ton tie rod ends with dom tubing.

Heres a picture of the coil buckets and shock mounts

I also made a transmission crossmember much like the one in the tech library to use with the radius arm mounts.

I fabbed up a track bar mount that uses the power steering bolts for placement

Once everything was in the correct position. I began to prep, prime, and paint all of the parts.

The reassembly began with new shocks, bushings, bearings, and ball joints. The new detroit truetrac went in along with yukon 5.13s.

And it was finally back on the road. For a day.

After riding around for the first day, It was time to start on the back. I found an explorer 8.8 already set up with 5.13s so i ordered the 8.8 simple swap from ruffstuff to begin.

I pulled out the old 7.5 and added it to the pile.

Then i put the 8.8 under my truck using only 2 u bolts to hold it in place. I centered the axle, measured my pinion angle and tack welded the perches and shock mounts in place. I then removed the axle and fully welded them in place

A mig sure would have been nice but my little cracker box stick welded just fine.

A little more primer and paint and she was ready to go back in.

I put in a set of belltech 6400s and she was ready to go.

That's a nice, clean looking truck. Kudos!

Nice work! Have you gotten to whell it since the new axles?

Running wheel spacers/adapters to use your old wheels?

Running wheel spacers/adapters to use your old wheels?

Yea. The wheels were given to me by my dad right before he passed away so I am trying to hold on to them as long as i can. I will eventually take the adapters off and run the 5 on 5.5 with aftermarket shafts in the 8.8. But the adapters will work fine for now.
