97 ranger rear end swap

what rear end will bolt right on without any modafications?


do I have to worry about 9 inch brakes or 10 inch breaks. or 7.5 ver 8.8

whats compatible ?

any help would be great.

I see that you are kind of new here. There is a great tech library up top with all kind of that info. Any Ranger rear from '93' to '11' will bolt right in. Best to go with a 8.8 found behind a 4.0L and most come with the 10" brakes

wow thanks great info just what I was looking for. I"m headded out to the yards tomorrow. I will check out the library. any opinions on what ratio to look for. I was just looking for a L/S and wasn't to conserened about the ratio...but if you know what runs best with a 4 banger I'd like to hear it.

3.73's are good all around gears, but if you are planning on going bigger than stock tire size (good up to about 30" for a 2.3) keep an eye out for a 4.10, but they're rare in 4.0's as far as I know but 3.73's are very common
