New here so I have several questions about myRanger.
It`s a 4.0 auto 2wd with 225/70/14 tires
I get bad mileage,, seems I can only get 14 MPG no matter how or where I drive which doesn't seem right. (combined city/freeway commute)
Worse I got was pulling a small utility trailer with my motorcycle in it down the freeway for about 300 miles. Got 10mpg !!!
I have even looked into the ACD chips.
Do they work and will I get better mileage as claimed?
What else can I do for look into?
Thanks,

all these subjects have been covered just search, but will tell u chips dont work i have heard that tunerd work pretty good

Ahhh...a new guy and he did not search?? Ahhhhhhhh I hate when that happens....Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh.

:icon_rofl::icon_rofl:

stray i think we need to have a search test before u can become a member on here lol

We really need to get this information out there. George W. Bush has been eating a lot of kittens lately.

As you can imagine, this kind of stuff just pisses Straycat off.

Don't listen to them, they're just a bunch of a-holes that don't want to help new guys. A tuner should help net you massive gains in power and mileage! I got a 90hp boost and I get 38mpg in mine.

Zima will make all your MPG worries go away. I hear people who lose their license to DUI become much less interested in the price of gas.

Noxzima will make your acne go away.

A lot of people have sand in their cracks lately... here's why you're getting these responses. (I'm with them 100%)

It doesnt seem like you searched. Youre not the only one, we've been getting hit everyday lately with simple questions that can be answered very quickly with a short search.

We, the collective of the forum put a lot of time and money out over the years:

-We buy these products, we try them and find out if they do or dont work.
-We put the time in testing, and replacing parts to figure out what causes these issues.
-We spend more time writing threads, and having discussions about said repairs and products.
-We spend more time answering questions in these threads to help others out when they get stumped on a similar problem.
-We consolidate it into one place (the tech library) and provide a link at the top of every page.
-We log on every day and try to help someone we never even met out.
-A good amount of us repair cars for a living, we then log in here, and tell others how to do the job that puts food on our table. We are basically telling you how not to have to pay us to do the job.

All we ask in return is for you (not just you, all the recent noobs with similar questions) to search first and ask questions later.

Spend a little time searching, come back with a good question. Show us that you have searched. Tell us that you saw in this thread that it could be your air filter is clogged and you replaced it. Explain that this thread mentioned a full tune-up, but that was done a few weeks back. Tell us that another thread said to check your O2 sensors and see if they are getting lazy, but you dont have a scanner to check them. When you ask a simple question, show us that you did put the time in and arent asking for a handout. We really are a great bunch of guys (more or less), and are willing to help anyone out at any time day or night, but you have to put out some effort too.

Mine also gets 13 mpg. Same as forever. Thankfully my daily commute is only four miles, so I don't care.

this is probably one of the best posts, and when i say best, i mean, most useful, most sincere, most productive, and best worded post, that i have read on the internet yet

i will start a new thread, and i will post this quote, as i feel that it should be known!

Wow! Of all the forums I belong to this is the rudest responces I have ever gotten !!
A simple "just do a search" would have been a better choice!!!

Then again,,, it must be because this is a Ford Forum and you are Ford guys?

Then again,, Bush is hungry?

Hasn't always been like that... although not the worst I've seen of forums I've been to, on a suzuki forum I've been to there's people that are way worse... and that forum is slow as hell so I stopped going, I'll just learn everything the hard way like I do everything else, my tracker is fairly straight forward to work on.

Should be getting 16-20, the '92 explorer I had with an A4LD got 15ish doing whatever... the '91 M5OD explorer I had got 17-20 no matter what. What gear ratio is in the thing, or what rpm is it cruising at? Do you have any codes (autozone will check for free I think)?

The 4.0L from what i understand like it cruising RPM right around 2600 to 2700.
mine seems to like that RPM. I get about 17 to 19.5 mix driving, 5 speed,4x4, 4:10 on 30inch tires.
It seems that no one with a auto ever gets good MPG.
Keep it well tuned, check tire pressure, and check for codes

i dont agree at all.

if you can take the time to read through something and post search....your a fawking dickhead....dont post anything. move on. at one point when the new guy asks hey wtf? 400 views and no posts? then you can usefully post do a basic search you fawking dumbfawk link if no one actually wanted to help the guy for asking how much air pressure gives the best mpg or what kind of radio should i get or whatever.

this place got to be what it is by not emphasizing what a dumbfawk a guy/gal is by not wasting four hours reading retarded bullshit when you should be able to ask a direct question.

immediately belittling somebody is pathetic when they lack the knowledge enough to actually turn to the internet and need asap assistance.

what the fawk does this place have to offer me? what about a normal rbv mechanically do you think i ever learned from here? before i knew what the internet was cause al gore didnt invent it yet or learned to type more then five words a minute i had swapped various powertrains into rangers, all nay sayed to death by the consulted experts... now--- naysayed for good reason due to practicalities....but practical is a relative term to me as a result of those experiences. besides the latest generation of fords the only thing v8 produced from 68 or so on i have not seen in a ranger is a real hemi. it would piss me off to see that as well. so if i wanted to put a hemi in a ranger what part of the forum should i search?

to be clear i was putting 150 coils and arms along with knuckle work before i could type too. all experts consulted and micro phishing done indicated it was a bad idea and wouldnt work.

ask a simple question? get the answers you dont want to hear and quit.....not me.

i certainly agree people need a prodding from time to time to get a solid cross section of data to learn from.....but this is getting out of hand.

you guys priding yourselves on trashing newbs is sad.
