97 2.3L transplant into a 91 ranger

you'll need the balancer with the vanes on it for the sensor, either the '89 or '94 should work.

The '89 sensor would have had the second connector but it's just a shield ground to keep interference out, most likely not the most important thing in the world

Ok, I notiiced that there was a wire that was broken off. Just wanted to make sure it was ground. so has anybody used the 98 ballancer/pulley with the obd1 style sencor? The 89 is a 2 belt pulley. My 94 is a single serpentine. And I noticed that the 93-94 ckp sencor that auto stores sell, looks slightly different than the 89. Was it revised or is it different in design? Just want to make sure everything is a go before I start.

I've never seen an '89 with a dual groove pulley, and I've basically had two (my chassis is an '89, and my truck was built in late '89 so '89 operating system) but go with the '94 pulley then. I don't have any pics of my setup

I would but the 94 pulley got scrapped with the old engine. I never seen the back side of the pulley. Here is a few pictures. Mabey you can tell if it is the same as the 94 pulley. So the 98 pulley will definitly not work then?

In my chiltons manual it shows this dual belt pulley on 91-92 engines. I think it will work with a shorter belt. However are these the correct vanes for the sencor? It looks way different than the 98 but, it could be the same as the 94 as I have never seen it.

oh, dual serpentine setup, I thought you meant V belt, that's normal... should work fine.

Got it mounted. Looks like Im gonna have to mill the bracket about 1/8". The ballancer contacts the sencor. You have to trim your bracket down?

no, but my bracket, sensor and balancer came off the same engine

Got it running today after a couple of wiring issues. Started right up! It runs awsome! Thanks again for the help scotts90ranger!
