97 2.3 squealing sound

Hey guys I've got a noise coming from my truck, it's very quick and isn't constant it happens when I'm driving about 24MPH in third gear and about 36MPH in fourth gear only while accelerating and can't make the noise continuously squeal.

I'm pretty lost on what it could be but I thought you guys could answer this better than anyone else!

I would first eliminate the obvious, fan belt

Loosen belt and remove it from pulleys
Inspect belt for cracks or "shiny" spots(glazing), replace if defects are seen, but still do the following so new belt won't end up like old belt.
Use sand paper, wire brush or emory cloth on all the pulleys, scuff them up and remove any Glazed spots that will cause slipping.

Fan belt works by fiction, any slight slipping will have a polishing(glazing) effect on the pulley, which will cause more slipping, which will cause more polishing, which will...........ect

Aside from what RonD mentioned...check the tension of the belt. These belts are meant to be super tight...this means it should be hard to depress the belt between the alternator and the nearest other pulley.

If there is any play up or down you can adjust the tension...but don't try to overdo it...I believe these belts are pretty tight when they are installed properly but your tension pulley on the left side (facing engine) should allow some adjustment (my 96 appears to do so)...
