I have a 2000 XLT Ext Cab 2wd with rear anti-lock drum brakes. I found a set of Splash wheels from a '96 to put on it, but the center bore won't clear the rear brake register. I've searched and searched for a remedy other than spacers. Can anyone help me out with some knowledge or a solution? Thanks

I know on some of the older mustangs, you can take the axles out and to a machine shop, and there is enough meat in the register area for them to put the axle in a lathe and turn it down to fit the wheel. You can do it on the rotor hub up front also so you can run the older GT rims on the newer hubs.

Not sure if this is an option in your case, but would eliminate spacers. I like the idea of hub centric rims, the lug nut has one job, just to hold the wheel on, not to center it also.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah I've heard that, along with boring out the center of the wheels which I'm not a fan of. I don't mind spacers. I've used them many times over the years, but I make sure I buy quality from a reputable company. I'm currently running Eibach 1" spacers with the hubcentric lip for the 2010 era Mustang GT 18"s (only to clear the center cap). I'm on a DJM 4/5 drop with 245/45 tires and they scrub the fender wells on dips and when leaning in turns. I've always liked the Splash wheels and figured I could get the look I want and eliminate the clearance issue at the same time.
