I have access to a pair of both, the Ex was a 4dr XLT that I got my 8.8 out of, the other ones are out of a darn near brand new base 4 cyl Ranger.

The basic leaves look about the same thickness, so do the overloads except the Rangers are longer. Both have 3 leaves and an overload and look a lot heavier than what Ford put in my truck originally.

The Ex had about 100k on it when it was knocked in the head and parted, obviously the Ranger didn't have near that. I know Ex's sag with age but this particular one had so much missing I couldn't really peg its stance. Ranger was hot off the lot and the springs still have a nice coat of black paint.

Would the essentially brand new Ranger springs be better than the well used Explorer springs?
