hay guys I just bought a 94' H.O. for my swap, it dose not have the ECU and the harness is cut. I called a couple of junkyards and they told me there are like 4 different ECUs for a 5.0/auto. I want to run a C4 behind it. Dose anyone know the part # for the ECU that I will need or how to figure out witch one?

thanks

I think i would just get a harness out of a 89 to 93 fox body mustang. they are the most simple and the computer does good with mild bolt ons

Yes, you can use an '87-'93 Fox body harness and ECU (any one, manual or auto, will not matter).
If you want to use a '94/'95 harness and ECU, you may want an ECU from a manual car as the auto transmissions in those years (AODE) were controlled by the engine ECU. You won't need this with a C4, and without the E-trans, you may see a check engine light.
The '94/'95 ECU also controls the electric fan, another benefit.

I would look for an A9L computer it is out of the fox body cars and they have the most aggressive tune. and they seem to be the most forgiving. I believe they were in the 90 to 92 models with the manual trans. but I think you will need the harness from a manual trans car maybe someone else on here may know

A9L came in 89-93 mustangs with manual trans and are forgiving for different cams and strokes, etc. You can also get a chip for it from places like superchips to tune it for heavy mods...

yeah I wasn't sure on yrs I am using a 95 cobra computer with a burnt chip and a pms system as well.

If you have a 95 ECU it should be OBDII, so you don't need a chip for those, they are flash programmable, you just rewrite it...You might have a mid to late 94 ECU if you chipped it, but yeah, I think in 94 with the SN-95 body style the used a different ECU than the A9L's..

95 was obd1 eec v; 96 was obd 2

Thanks for all of the responses, there is a typo I have a 95' ho. I would like to go with the same year. So the OB that STV listed above is the one?

I have been reading over the tech library about the ignition, so because I am using EFI do I need a duraspark or not? Eather way why do you need to change to a duraspark from the OEM 5.0 distributor?

I have read threads about the smog delete and getting a dummy pully to take its place, but the one thing wrong with my motor is that the smog bracket is broke. I would like to just run a smaller belt, to save 250$ for a new bracket and pully. what do you guys think?

Running a shorter belt should be just fine.
