95' h.o

Use the TFI distributor that came with you H.O. motor.

If you're running EFI, you want a TFI distributor.
If you are using an engine harness form a '94/'95 Mustang, you want a distributor for those years, and the TFI module is remote for those years, not bolted to the distributor.

EFI will have nothing to do with Duraspark.

F series also had the remote TFI, I don't remember what year they started but I had a 92 with it.

Just for my knowledge why, when do you need to change the distributor

You do not have to.

The Duraspark is recommended for carbed applications who want a non-points style ignition.
It's stock Ford electronic ignition, up until EFI was introduced.

I have been reading over the tech library about the ignition, so because I am using EFI do I need a duraspark or not? Eather way why do you need to change to a duraspark from the OEM 5.0 distributor?

thanks for the responce, but what about the distributer?

I know I dont need to I was just wondering why.

Can you restate your question? Unless I'm missing something here, I think we've answered that you do not need to change a distributor, unless it breaks.

Duraspark was introduced in 1973 by Ford as it's electronic ignition for cars with carburetors. Not used with a Mustang style EFI system.

Hope that is clearer.

duraspark distributor= carb

TFI distributor = EFI

Are you planning to keep the A/C compressor?

no I am removing the AC too.

Sorry teddy if it confusing, In the tech library are they suggesting a duraspark because it is a good distributor for carb applacations, or because there is a technical reason that you need to run one?

If there is a technical reason for it what is it?

Duraspark is a good system, and a very simple one, which is why many use them on carbed systems...As far as the Smog delete, you can short belt it without removing the pump, the pulley does not interfere when shortbelting, however, I have replaced the smog pump with a second altenator, so if you have power demands, you can do this mod...

It's that simple. Now go and enjoy your build.

I think my last engine is similar to yours. Here is a pic without A/C or smog pump using only a shorter belt. No delete pulleys are needed. Or you can do as mentioned above and run another alternator in the smog pump location if you have higher current demands.
