This car is long gone, i sold it a while ago, just want to see your thoughts on a problem it had. For the life of me i could NOT figure out why it did this.

It had a problem that would cuase it to not have spark when starting (this happened randomly, i didnt notice any certain condition that cuased it, it did this when it was wet, dry hot or cold, however more often then not it was when it was damp out, but not always)

Now, as it stands there it doesnt seem wierd, but the part that blew my mind was it didnt have spark, when cranking with the starter. (the battery was NOT dead, or even weak) HOWEVER, if you pushed the car, and popped thee clutch, it would start right up. And then after that, it would start with the starter until it sat for a while then it may or maynot have started using the starter.

I could figure out what would cuase it to do this randomly, and be so it would only have spark when pushed or manually started. The check engine light was on everytime you turned the key to the "on" position, so the ECU was getting power, i figured it could have been the ignition switch, but if that light comes on, the ecu does have power.:icon_confused:

Any thoughts on what would cuase this?

Another thing, later on i realized you didnt need to actually start the motor by pushing it, you just needed to push it enough to have the crankshaft move a few revolutions, and then you could turn the key and it would fire. The engine otherwise turned over fine with the starter motor. It wasnt a start motor issue.

the distributor was messed up the radio or something was messing them up my friends probe gt did this he changed the distributor 5 times then got a new head unit and hasn't changed one since.

are you kidding me? Yeah mine was a GT aswell with the 2.5 v6. I put an aftermarket radio in, but it still had this problem even when i bought it, with NO radio at all.

but it must have been the distributor,or the camshaft sensor in the dist....just wierd cuase ive never seen a problem with no spark while cranking with the starter, but fine when you push it. One theory i had was the lower voltage at the dist. from cranking it just barely passed the threshold for the worn out dist to fire, but when you pushed it there was no drain on the voltage. However, that doesnt explain why you didnt need to actually start the car by pushing, but just nudge the crank in a new position, without using the starter, and then the starter would start it.

It was in very bad condition, the car that it. I bought it for 900 bucks, after tax at a ripoff car dealer (they wanted 2 grand at 1st, so i wait two months, and showed up 900 cash lol, i win :) ) it lasted me 5 months, only needing a new tire, and cv axle and brakes. And i drove it alot too. It still drove when i sold it off for 200 bucks. So i cant complain, 900 bucks for a set of wheels for 5 months is NOT bad.
