So, my '95 2.3 smokes a little on start up. blue smoke, so probably oil. It does it first start and sometimes when it's already warmed up. Not a ton, just a little cloud puff that you can see and smell.

This truck sat for several years and I don't know how often it was started. It's only got 50,000 kms on the motor.

I think the compression is good, so I don't think the rings are an issue. Are the valve stem seals a likely culprit or what should I be looking for? This would be a great little truck if it didn't smoke like that...

valve stem seals would be my guess, not a hard job just takes time and a couple small pry bars, other than the compression gage and air compressor to keep the valves in place.

id have to agree with the first response, valve stem seals, especially with the truck sitting, mine sat for 6 years and it gets a little puff of smoke when u start it up,there easy to change.
