After searching, I've many different things about Wrangler wheels on rangers, especially with how they fit up front. Can anyone give me some specific guidance about 94 Wrangler wheels on a 98 ranger?

Are they like these (15X8 Wrangler):

The hub hole is large enough on the backside, but is too small on the outer, I had mine machined out by a machine shop & used push-through aftermarket centers as seen in these pics:

Good luck!

also these

looks like the 2nd ones i posted are the exact same as yours! are all the wheels on every ranger universal with each other?
and, I'd like input from everyone about this Q, would the upgrade to 30" from 27.4 inch (225-70-15's) be worth it? would 31 look even better? i'm also planning on painting the rims black.

Pretty much all Ford vehicles have the same bolt pattern (5 on 4.5) with the exception of fullsize trucks & some front-wheel drive cars............
Explorer, Crown Vic, Fusion, Mustang, Grand Marquis......some Mopar will all bolt onto a Ranger, just have to look at rim sizes (15,16,17 etc.) and wideths.

Your 98 a 4X4? If so, those Jeep wheels for $350 are a GOOD price with 31's.

I have 275/60's on the rear of mine, that's a 28" tall tire, I wanted 295/60's or even 315/50's, but can only get them in a drag radial & don't want those for the street.

Here's a few links for tires size & speedo info:

GOOD LUCK & post some pics of your truck!

my truck is a 2wd, does that matter as far as wheel sizing? And those 31's already sold :shok:

Will i need to regear for 31's? I have v6 3.0L with auto tran

Well..............

Use the calculators I linked above, it will show you how far off your speedo will be with your original gears.................

a little less than 14% slower of a reading. Will this require regearing in order for my truck to not be sluggish?

What are your intentions?

A taller tire lowers your gear ratio: 3.45 gear w/original 225/70R15 tire
Changes to 3.52 w/ 235/70R15, and to 3.90 w/ 31" tire.......

Here's the link I used:

Hope this helps!:icon_thumby:

You'll want to regear for sure. The 3.0L falls flat on it's face if it can't spin enough RPMs (for 30s, 4.10 or 4.56 ratio. For 31s, 4.56 for sure).

i run steel jeep rims from a '01 wrangler as my winter wheels. had to cut a hole for my front lockouts in the plastic center cap, but no biggie. the 3.0 makes its power higher in the rpm band than the other ranger motors. putting bigger tires on a 3.0 will more than likely need to be re-geared. here is my truck with the winter rims.

Hi everyone, Im glad I found this thread as I seem to be in the same boat. I found an amazing deal on some 98 Wrangler wheels, but it appears that I will also have to get the front hub machined out so it fits over my lockouts on my 99 Ranger.

Here is a pic of the wheel:

I think it is beautiful and hard to find...but dont have a clue how I could get the hole machined out??? Maybe a wide drill bit? :-) Also does this have to be done on just the front or all around? Thanks everyone...man i want these wheels on my truck :-(

Here ya go>>>

These are Jeep GAMBLER wheels:

And YES, they have to be machined out to clear the front hubs and is totally up to you as to do all 4, but IMO, it would look awkward for the fronts to be done & not the rears.

ALSO: A machine shop can bore em out proper, no drill bit that big that I know of for the normal person.......

If ya do em, post some pics PLEASE!
