94 ranger 4" lift 4x4 tire?

I have a 94 ranger 4.0 ranger. putting a 4" rough country lift on it in a few weeks and looking to buy some mt tires. truck is just going to be used for off road. I currently have 265x70x16 on it what size could i go up to? I was thinking 33s or 35s and would this put to much strain on my little 4.0?

33s will fit great. 35s depending on how much you limit the front flex will either rub or not.

4.56 gears for 33s at the minimum. 5.13s for 35s especially if they are for 16 inch wheels because they will be heavy heavy tires with load rating in the D or E.

I currently have a 3.73 L/S what would happen if i threw 33's on it? just poor gas mileage?

reason im asking is i have never changed rear ends before and after researching i would have to change the front as well seeing its 4x4. I may just use 32's or would it make any difference 32 vs 33s? this truck is going to be used for off road only mainly.

You'll be fine with 3.73's and 33's as long as you're not trying to set a new record at Pikes Peak.

33s and 3.73 gears for an offroad only truck is going to be underpowered in 4 wheel high. Youll end up using 4 wheel low for most terrain besides flat.

I had 33s and 3.73 gears. Truck did great mileage wise on the road but was not anywhere what I found useful off road. 4.56 for an off road rig only is the minimum I would recommend going.

the mud we go through are mostly all flat and i tend to use 4 low because high bogs if i catch good traction.
