My son has a 1994 Ranger with the 2.3 and a 5 speed. He is learning to drive and we got this truck as a project. I have been driving it for about a month to get it ready for him(he's practicing the manual in the pasture). We changed the thermostat out this past weekend due to it not building any heat. Everything went well with no problems. We pulled it out and let it run for a little bit to warm up and hopefully get any air pockets out.
I started to work the next morning and about 100 yards down the driveway it idled up higher than normal (guessing 2kish but don't have a tach). It has stayed in that high idle ever since.
*I looked for any vacuum hoses loose or broken and sprayed parts cleaned with no change in idle
*I checked throttle cable, it is moving freely and returning
*I blocked off IAC with no change
*Testing TPS, I'm getting 4.9, 1.2, and 4.4
What am I missing? Can MA be tested? I am not a mechanic but am trying to learn and teach my son what I can.
Thanks for any help
Daniel
