Ok i bought the truck from a friend. We had put in a new clutch and right after that he moved for a few months and the truck sat. He came home and it wasnt acting right so i bought it cheap.

its a 93 2.3l dual spark

i replaced the plugs/wires, fuel filter, checked all the other fluids, and removed the cat and installed a test pipe. The truck starts and dies, ill start it again it will idle fine. It revs ok seems a little slow in climbing through the rpms. Put it in gear and try to go and it barley moves, feels like im in fourth gear from a standstill. If i can get it to get moving without stalling out it will drive but its the same every gear all rpms, no shuttering just all lacking.

I dont know what to look for, its firing on all cyl, all wiring is hooked up, ive cleaned the maf no difference.

Should i replace the maf, maybe egr will do this, or could this be a tranny issue? Before it sat and got the new clutch it ran fine as a daily driver.

I would check the timing. Sounds retarded. If you set the timing without removing the jumper, it will be off, and gutless until your rpms are around 2500.
tom

how can i set the timing on a 2.3l with the two coil packs and no distributor

cam still has to be in time with the crank ...

i realize that but i looked at it and it looks fine unless the belt has stretched, i may buy a new timing set, i was thinking it was a sensor but i have no check engine light at all

Mine was doing sumthin similar to this, I timed mine with the jumper pulled and same thing. I had a tube on the bottom side of my intake was completely packed with carbon and i cleaned that out it helped a teeny tiny bit but didnt do much else. My timing belt looks rather new, Im out of things to fix.

i took it for a spin today and if i stomp the gas it slowly moves but if i come off the gas a little it starts to pick up more so i def have a fuel issue either to much or not enough spark or air is wrong, im replacing the mass air flow now

ok so i realized my crank pulley had a slight wobble to it so i pulled it off, made sure the dampner was tight and i cleaned the crank position sensor it was pretty nasty. Made a huge difference, still acts a little stupid on my driveway, wants to stall out going up the incline so i dont know what to check next

Check Your Fuel Make Sure Its Good, Also Maybe Pull Off The Throttle Body And Make Sure All Teh Tubes And Holes Are Clear Of Debri. Mine Has A Tube Going To The Carbon Canister Was Completely Packed Shut. Took Me Two Hours To Break Through The Stuff.

In your original post you said that you replaced the fuel filter. Make sure it is going in the right direction. There is a right and wrong way to install it. Just an idea.

fuel filter is in correct direction, hoses are good, the truck is on the road a little picky on inclines but other than that it runs ok, still would like to get it runing a little better, theres no torque at all i cant even pull a jetski with it

The fuel pump may be pumping enough to get it going, but not enough.

Have you check fuel pressure?

How about the air filter and tube? Maybe some creatures made a nest in there while it was sitting.

It could possibly be the timing belt skipping a tooth....but from what I've heard it'd barely run.

PCV Valve? It can make an engine act retarded if plugged.

Are you absolutely sure the clutch was installed correctly? Or was it tested/driven before it sat?

Bad Gas???? it did sit a while...how long? Winter Gas in the summer= shitty running/lack of power.

Bad gas sounds like a good possibility. Also when was the last time the oil was changed? If it sat for a long time with bad oil that could put a lot of stress on the engine and make it run poorly.

BTW are you the same madhatter from bash?
