93 Build - Slowly but Surely

So far I have put in the new (used) third and put the front end back together. Even more of a pain the ass. Lots of wiggling and verbal encouragement to put in place.

out with the old

in with the new

Made a place for the mud flaps and painted everything.

I didn't get a pic of the bumper painted because it was dark out when I finished it.

So tomorrow I will make the licence plate mounting plate and wire up the lights too. I finally started it since I fixed the cage to the frame. Started right away and sounds great. I replaced the old glass pack with a new ish shorty one. What a difference, more of a growl now.

Big update. Finished putting the panels on Saturday and made a license plate bracket. Put the new passenger side door on, what a pain to do by yourself.

Sunday I went out and met up with a few jeep buddies and had a great day of wheeling. I can feel a huge difference in how much weight was added with all the tubing. I really like it, way more traction. Ended up laying the side of the truck against a bank, all the hard work was definitely worth it.

nice job on the cage,i cant say ive ever seen someone cut the bedsides and use it as filler plates but you made it look dang nice!

with those coils you realy should extend your radius arms and take some preasure off those lift brackets.

Thanks man! It was A LOT of work trying to fit all the plates in place. I think I might leave the radius arms for now and then go straight to working on the d44. But I might just extend them for the fun of it.

You have done a really good job on the exo cage, saves your vehicle and you when you out on the trails having a good ole time. How's the 3.0 do in off roading in a 4wd?

Thank you! For power the 3L is not horrible but I will regear when I jump to 35's. I definitely feel a lack of power when it comes to crawling up steep inclines.

As the bumper was off to repair the horn I decided to make a new front bumper and run tubing from the bumper to the cage. I made it so I could still remove the bumper.

Can you still get up Harbourview? That one had amazing views out to Washington State. :D
Edit: I remember there was a gate, but somehow we used to bypass it...

Not anymore. They have cement blocks lining the sides of the road so there's no way to get around. I have mtn biked up there tonnes but never wheeling.

That truly sucks. :annoyed: Lots of great wheeling off the logging roads around there tho. I knew of a couple off Butler main, but to be fair, I mostly wheeled around Duncan - Lake Cowichan and gotta be 10 years ago at that.

Does Jason at Dumont Tire still host poker runs? I had 3 Dumont poker run badges on the dash of my last Scout.

Butler is now gated. We are really loosing all the good wheeling spots around here. I'm starting to get to know some good wheeling spots in Duncan.

Jason no longer does any events. Frogstompers seems to be picking some tough truck challenges. Really cool events. I helped with the last one and it was a blast. The next one will be in early October.
