92 Ranger LH interior door handle question...

Okay, I took my door apart today to replace the LH interior door handle, and discovered that the door handle itself is fine. The problem is the cable that runs from the door handle to the latch has broken. It broke between where the cable attaches to the handle via the white plastic piece and the little knob that sits inside the plastic cradle of the handle.
Now, all that aside, here's my question: Is the cable replaceable by itself, or is it an integral part of the entire door latch assembly? The door latch itself is $250, give or take, from LMC, and that's a little out of the budget range. If anyone can offer some help, it would be most appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Oh, and there are no junk yards around here with donor Ford Rangers. I checked. Figures.

Frankly I'd go junkyard shopping, but not for a 1992 latch cable.

I'd go looking for a 1989-91 latch, handle and rod
Either that or a complete door...

you can buy an awful lot of junkyard parts for $250.

That's just it. There are no junkyards around here with any similar year Ranger in them. They have some newer Rangers, but I seriously doubt that the latch and/or cable would be the same. I know the inside handle wouldn't. I really don't want to have to do an online junkyard purchase, because I'm one of those anal types that wants to see what I'm buying before I buy it.

LMC lists a latch cable for the 93-05 for 52.00 is that the part you are looking for? I can check the JY here and see if they have one.

The JY here has a 94 ranger, I am going there today or tomorrow I will look to see if they have it.

That's great! I don't suppose you know if they are interchangeable with a 92, do you? Just wondering, since that's what I have.

Dammit!!! I was so close!!! I found a Ranger door release cable repair kit on eBay, but because my wife and I went to see Larry the Cable Guy tonight, I got outbid for a freakin dollar!!! Can you believe that? The kit sells for $195 :shok: at a Ford dealer, and also on Amazon.com, but the opening bid on this was only $29.99 with about $5 and change for shipping. Figures. Oh, well. I just happened to check a local jy's website, and since they don't have any listings in the drop down menu for the part I'm looking for, I checked for a 92 Ranger door manual window regulator, and they have one! :icon_hornsup: Guess I'm gonna have to go talk to them Monday, and see if the cable is there, what shape its in, and how much they want to bone me for it. Wish me luck!!! (Gee, that didn't come across TOO cynical, did it?)

Update almost two years later. Oops... Anyway, I finally found a cable for my truck. Apparently, 1992 was an odd year (figures, right?) and the cables only fit on 1992 Rangers. There was a recall, or TSB, or something to that effect because the factory cables would allow moisture to get into them and cause them to freeze, stick, and then break. The repair kit I referenced in my last post was the recall replacement part and they are almost impossible to find now. But anyway, I'm fixed for now but I'm still keeping an eye out for that repair kit again. Thanks to all that helped. Two years ago.
