Here was the cause.

Any info or build thread on this truck? I'd be interested in seeing all the underhood clearances with the taller truck style intake and alternator. I appears to fit and I was worried I would have to buy an LS2 intake and accessories. I have a deposit on my Jeep and as soon as that things leaves my driveway I'm ordering my engine and trans.

I'm getting way too good at taking the bed off. Just takes an elaborate system of ropes and my frankenstein hydraulic engine hoist haha

I cut my previous weld out and stretched the frame back to where it should be, pated the inside where it broke, welded in a cross tube, and tied the shock mount gusset into the new tube. It stiffened the frame substantially. I don't feel I'll have to worry about it again. Now time to find the next weakest link.

The trucks ready to go, gf washed it and it's sitting there waiting. We leave tomorrow after work for five days in the dunes. I'm actually remembering my go-pro this time too.

Had a great trip but again didn't get many pics or videos. I'll see what I can put together.
The truck handled great again and the rear frame brace held up great. I set the bumps to 250 PSI and the truck landed like a dream all weekend. I only have one little jump video but I had some big ones. Even launched over some idiot going the wrong way in a buggy.

Went to Lenger Racing today so they could fit the drivers seat in my dads jeep to his height. It's not done when it should have been so Ryan (the owner) is delivering it across the state himself when it's done. Now that's some service.

I started a separate thread for the Jeep so the pics don't clutter this one. It can be found HERE

That welded in shock scares me. You should at least weld shock tabs off of the tube.

Mounting it like that is putting alot of force on the edge of the frame, and those will tear out with enough force. I remember you already seeing the results of that on the frame once. Dont forget to strap the rear, those are very cheap insurance, and you really shouldn't jump without them.

this is the only pic i could find of what i mean. welded to the frame may work, but its single sheer and bro fab if you ask me.

you headed down on the 23rd-24th to the dunes? theres a ranger meetup goin on there. I wish i could make it, will probably go next year.

I have the first step to the motor swap. A friend of mine gave me his LS7 cam and related parts he took out of his 5 day old 2012 Corvette that is getting twin turbo'd and he's also giving me a T56 trans he had sitting around. That just saved me about $2k so I'm certainly grateful.

I have LS6 heads now too. I'm going one of these days to get the LS7 springs from my friend's. The same friend also has a friend that does EFI live tuning. This engine is falling together nicely. I'm probably going to push the swap to a winter project so it can be caged at the same time.

Scribing for an ls Ranja

Bad thoughts recently hahah I've come to the conclusion that I could get more money for the parts and labor that have been put into this truck if I sell it and start fresh. We'll see. I'll post a local ad to gauge interest in the truck when I decide.

Send me them LS parts then!
