Hello, first time poster, big time beer drinker here. Can anyone here reccomend an after-market source of front springs for my "Granger" please. This is a daily driver I haul no loads but this thing is rattling the stones in my kidneys and I fear an impending avalanche. OW! All answers greatly appreciated, Iain.

Your shocks are probably out if the ride is harsh. Get replacements. Your ride quality may improve.

does the front end bottom out often causing a rough ride?

can you put your weight on the front bumper & cause the front end to "bounce"

If so, the shocks are worn out.

If the shocks are working correctly...they might be too stiff causing you to feel every little bump or pothole....then you would need a set of car shocks to take the "truck-ride" out of the front end. Napa has a catalog that gives the open/closed length of car shocks so you can choose a set that would fit your truck.

Variable rate springs.. i heard they exist. At least that's what the dude said he installed about ten years ago. I run 4 Gabriel Gas shocks. I'm thinking that gas shocks aren't the best (at least the cheap Gabes I have now) since the rough stuff i now bounce over.. not absorb. Seems to be a tricky combo to work out.. unless you stick with OEM.

Gas charged shocks will (generally) cause a slightly harsher/stiffer ride than Hydraulic/oil shocks.

That's what I was told when I was shock shopping.

true.....when gas charged shocks hit the stores, everybody had to have a set....it took e about 5 minutes of driving to realize hydraulic shocks were smoother....but truck shocks are still stiff no matter whether gas or oil.....their made for doing work:icon_bounceblue:

True.. remember air shocks? Man I had them im my Chevelle when I was a 17.. used to stop at the local gas station, pop open my truck to get to the fitting, and fill em up with air and go hot roddin around town. Oh they road like a dream (ROFL).

Seriously though i understand its a truck (at least thats what my state tag says) but it doesn't have to sound like your leaving parts of your truck behind has you go down the road either. My fault for chosing the cheap Gab Gas shocks.. even though they were meant for a car. But you can blame Sears for that. I had great (to me) oil shocks from them that were suppose to be guaranteed for life. They were shot.. the pistons wouldn't even move on the rears. They woudn't replace them. So on a budget getting her back out of retirement I opted for the 15 dollar jobs. I know.. you get what you pay for. I'd much rather a "Valved" shock personally.

Are the shocks for lowered oil or gas? Like Nitro or something
