1999 2wd 2.5 Auto, needs a tranny

I am looking at the above truck it needs a tranny any feedback would be appreciated. ie. what years would work? what engines is it compatible with. how about explorers? cost for replacement

Explorers have the 4.0 and 5.0 engines which have different bellhousings. Your only option is another 4-cylinder ranger.
