I have a 90 ranger w/4.0 engine and a4ld automatic transmission. I want to get a used a4ld to rebuild. What years will work with no extra changes?

You will need a 1990-1994.

There are some changes to update it and make it a 6 speed, if you are so inclined
1, 1+OD, 2, 2+OD, 3, OD - 6 speeds

1+OD is what Ford did to make the 5R55E, a 5-speed

Thanks but that is so far out of my league, it's not even on my scope. I'm just trying to get this thing to stock.
