a 2.9 isnt that bad.....for a bronco 2......not hauling anything............with stock tires.........driving only on the highway.
but if you're gonna spend all that time ripping out an engine and putting a new one in, you could just as easily put a 4.0 in there.
the downside to that is that you'd eventually need a new tranny (if the old one even bolts up). plus, a good 4.0 will probably run you more than $200
