89 ranger SAS build

I'm not sure. I think using knuckles off a CJ or something like that, then I would have lock out hubs... (to much work and more money I don't have).

would you mind taking some more pics of the frame/link mounts? i just got my heims in the mail and am debating on fabbing a new tranny crossmember but your first few pics show that you just used the B2 crossmember then made your own. I would like to see how your frame mounts look please sir

The bearing conversion kits are pricey at $1000 and up, and you lose the 5x4.5 bolt pattern... Same if you attempt to swap in CJ outers, but I've never heard if they fit the newer D30s.

Were the bearings new or are they the original? I temember seeing them for $100 at autozone.

Depends on which unit bearing you get. Don't skimp, or you'll be replacing them every year...

The one that went out was one of the originals, it was in better shape than the other side. The other was replaced by another used one off ebay.

Hope these work. I can take more if needed

New bearing installed and drives much better now, doesnt want to wander so much.

I am looking for a new 2.3, it has too many miles on it and needs alot of work. Having oil pressure problems, starting to knock, loosing power, down to 12mpg from 19mpg two months ago...anyone have a good 2.3 they want to sell?

Go 4.0, might as well since your going to have to replace engines anyways.

I should have a 2.8 engine with an auto trans and manual tcase within the next month or so. motor has less then 10k on it per previous owner

2.8, might as well get another 2.3
I would like a 4.0 but this is my daily driver and need to swap motors a quick as possible, like in a weekend.
I found a 97 2.3 for $150. only has 110k miles on it. Only have to drive 90miles to get it.

I like your build, and swap. Very clean and simple. Nice truck! Keep up the good work.

i havent posted back here in a while, but it still coming along great man. keep it up
