I was wondering what all i need to convert my 2.9L efi 4x4 ranger into a carbeurated 5.0

It's much easier to just search or read whatever you can than to ask for advice. I converted an 88 2.9 4x4 to a 302. It wasn't a daily driver and I didn't have to work my ass off to get it done so it was fun for me. Was it a daily driver, i'd have no hair left. It seems like no matter what you read, something will be slightly different or require modifying. If you have a mechanical background and have a way to make things work, then by all means go for it. Most fun i'd had in a while. Just understand that almost NOTHING stock will work. I used the original axles, but I didn't offroad it much unless I had to...never killed them thank god. But the engine, tranny, driveshafts, and cpu will have to go to name a few things. A body lift makes things easier as well.

ive heard from some people that is less costly and time consuming to do a 4.0 swap but im not sure ill get the power i want from that
