Hi all. I just bought an 89 B2 4wd stick. It has an erratic problem with bogging down. The previous owner said he took it to a mechanic and said the problem was the MAP sensor, but this has been replaced, problem still occurs. Sometimes you can drive a long trip with out it happening at all, other times it will happen multiple times in a couple mile drive. It drives fine then all of a sudden there is no gas pedal response... almost a negative response. If you try to give it gas when this happens, the rpms go DOWN. If you turn the key off and start it right back up, the problem goes away. Please help! Truck has new MAP sensor and new fuel pump, both installed by previous owner. Thanks. Also, the AC compressor has been removed and the hoses cut, don't know if this is important, but it might be...?

C'mon Guys.....Nothing? I thought this was the place for answers? J/K LOL.
Need some help, this is the daily driver for the wife and kids. Any ideas would help me, as I'm no mechanic

Did you pull any codes? Could be TPS, or a few other.... Pull codes and see what pops up.

not saying this is it,
but I had a simular problem with my 89 BII 2.9 when I first got it, it only did it every now & then & more often when it rained. mine started to pop & miss one day while bogging down.. so I knew it was the fire side. turned out to be the iginition module on the back of the dist.

I would try new module, cap, wires, plugs & coil. & if it still does it, check your fuel system,
filter, lines, pump & tank ..
had a truck one time with a rusty filler neck, & the trash was stopping up the filter/lines.. would bog bad..
hope you find it..

I have not pulled any codes, but the previous owner said his mechanic told him it was throwing a MAP sensor Code. I'll see what I find though. Also, it does have new cap, wires, and plugs...still happens. Thanks guys.
