89 B2 locking hub oring


So this was a Warn rebuild kit (just orings) and it included two of the D35 orings (measurements all over the place) and two of the D28 orings - which are as follows according to our digital caliper.

Measuring the outer diameter of the hub (which is the inner diameter of the ring) yielded a measurement of 3.195" - the oring is .125" thick (1/8") and right at 3.25" (3 1/4") - which in following the measurements above doesn't exactly fit because of the flexibility of the oring under measurement. In any case, if I were to look for orings in the future for a D28 without having part numbers or calling Warn I would order, if they have it, 3 3/16" x 1/8" ------ And if nothing else then 3.25" (outer diameter) x.125" as it's probably good.

I can't see your pictures right now because I'm at work. (your hosting site is blocked for me) But based on the measurements you listed, I would try either a 234 or 235 O-ring. Here's the page in the McMaster-Carr catalog.

Catalog Page click on upper left-hand link for oil-resistant buna n o-rings.

If you can measure the groove the ring goes into, that should help narrow down the possibilities, especially concerning ID and OD. The o-ring should be slightly fatter than the depth of the groove and may slightly thinner than the width of the groove so that when everything is assembled, the ring squashes (yeah. that's a technical term :D) and fills the groove.

Cool, looking at your table I would say 234 like you said. I did have to very slightly stretch the oring to fit around the hub opening and it fit perfectly. I've changed the photo location from OneDrive to Photobucket. It won't load the one of the oring on the hub, but if I can get it loaded I'll put it back up here.
